Alex Lockwood, NASA planetary astronomer called the 2 eclipses in Kerrville the Texas Nexus. NASA was on hand on Monday for research. NASA was taking density, temperature, and conductivity measurements. They also had rockets that were sent into the atmosphere before, during and after the eclipse to take those measurements.
Radar was used to measure how the ionosphere, the upper layer of the atmosphere, is changing because that’s where radio waves bounce off of. And, for the sun, NASA measured the intensity and shape of the solar corona. Reports the Texas Standard.
