UIL: Class 5A, 6A football pushed back a month

Updated: Jul 29

2020 TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL

Class 5A Boerne Champion, Kerrville Tivy & Castroville Medina Valley, & Class 6A Smithson Valley won't start football workouts until Sept. 7; or play first games until September 24-26.

Class 4A & below schools (Fredericksburg, Boerne High, Bandera, Comfort, Center Point, Harper, Ingram Tom Moore, Medina, and more) can begin football workouts Aug. 3 and play season openers Aug. 27-29, as originally planned.

That came from the UIL on July 21, 2020.

And with the UIL changes, and Smithson Valley, Boerne Champion, Kerrville Tivy and Medina Valley football playing well into December, and possibly January (2021), the Ranch Radio Group (RRG) & 92.3 The Ranch's Friday Night Lights will run consecutive Friday's from August 28 to sometime in January 2021 (thru the Class 6A & 5A football state championship games) - approximately 20 weeks!

A fired-up RRG Sports Director Scott "HangTime" Hainline summed it up in one word: "Wango."
