Kerr Co - BESS Townhall in Mountain Home

Kerr County Commissioner Rich Paces played to a packed house Wednesday at the Mountain Home Fire Department. In attendance was State Representative Wes Virdell and Commissioner Don Harris. Commissioner Paces presentation on the 391 Commission’s work to stop or regulate battery energy storage systems in Kerr County sparked questions of what could be done locally. The answer, contact your state and federal representatives. A BESS is proposed for the Mountain Home area by Esvolta East West Energy to come online in 2027.  Due to deregulation of the energy industry, there isn’t much regulation on the BESS. Federal subsidies and ERCOT’s desires to bring over 900 of these to Texas concern citizens about the possible dangers that the storage systems can bring to their community. Paces is speaking before the Public Utility Commission today.
