Monday is Labor Day

Labor Day celebrates and recognizes the American labor movement. The first Labor Day holiday was Tuesday, Sept. 5, 1882, in New York City. In 1894, Congress passed a bill recognizing the first Monday of September as Labor Day and it was a holiday for federal workers. All U.S. states and territories now observe Labor Day as a statutory holiday.
