Recent rains don't make an impact on area lakes

Despite the heavy rainfall this past weekend, drought levels for Texas lakes remain low. The Lower Colorado River Authority says that lakes are low during a drought because of evaporation, water usage from cities, agriculture, power plants and industry. Areas around Fredericksburg and Kerrville are in an Exceptional Drought. The government's National Integrated Drought Information System, reports from January through April 2023, almost 7 inches of total precipitation was recorded in Texas. About a half-inch below what is considered normal for that time of year.
