Texas - Lottery Commission dismisses case against former Exec Dir

Former executive director of the Texas Lottery Commission indicted then case dismissed. According to the Texas Tribune, Gary Grief was indicted by a Travis County grand jury last month for felony abuse of office. Then three days later at the request of an assistant district attorney the case was dismissed for “prosecutorial discretion.” The indictment alleged Grief misused his position as executive director of the now dismantled Texas Lottery Commission to defraud the state during the Lotto Texas drawing in April of 2023. That jackpot was $95 million dollars.

It reminds readers how important evidence and careful evaluation are in public decisions.
