University of Texas Austin has a Home to Texas internship program. It was created to prevent brain drain from rural areas of the state in 2019. Since then, interest has grown. Over 400 students applied for the program. Over 60 were placed in a dozen Texas towns. More students usually go to larger cities for internships and work. A UT representative said these internships are a boon for rural communities with limited access to a deep talent pool. Reports the Texas Tribune.
