MOWA - Declaration of Independence readinn
A historic occasion took place Wednesday at the Museum of Western Art in Kerrville at 5pm. Communities across America are commemorating the first official public reading of the Declaration of Independence. Community leaders will each read a portion of the Declaration. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and the reading begins at 5 p.m. Light refreshments to follow. MOWA is located at 1550 Bandera Highway.

TXdot road pattern change on 1604
Travelers prepare for delays due to a new TXDot road pattern. An eastbound Loop 1604 entrance ramp after the I-10 interchange was permanently shut down yesterday. According to TXDot the closure will affect travelers on their way past the Rim. Crews are performing a ramp reconfiguration at the Loop 1604 and I-10 interchange. Kerrville - flood memorial at local RV park
Another memorial for the 119 who perished in last July’s floods is now at the Kerrville RV Resort and Cabins on Texas 173. A flood memorial was dedicated with all names painted on a brick and placed at the foot of a cross. At night, the cross is lit up with a green spotlight.

National - Joey Chestnut wins again

Texas - Don Huffines appointed interim Comptroller
Texas interim Comptroller to resign at the end of the month. Kelly Hancock turned his resignation letter in to Governor Greg Abbott Wednesday. Hancock was appointed by Governor Abbott for the role last year after the previous comptroller resigned. Hancock was defeated in his bid for a full term in March against Don Huffines. Now Abbott has appointed Don Huffines interim Comptroller ahead of the general election. He will start the job August 1. Huffines face Democratic State

Kerrville - River debris to be stored at the Youth Event Center
Collected river debris to now be stored to the Hill Country Youth Event Center in Kerrville. Kerr County Commissioners approved a land use agreement with the Texas Division of Emergency Management at their recent meeting. The vote was divided at 3 to 2. The debris is currently being stored in Center Point on land owned by the school district.

Boerne-Champion High School student welders honored by members of President Donald Trump’s cabinet. Friday morning a crowd attended the dedication of the Hill Country Flood Memorial Wall at the Coming King Sculpture Garden in Kerrville. KISD Superintendent - speaks in Washington DC
Kerrville Independent School District Superintendent Brent Ringo spoke in Washington DC. on Friday at an America 250 celebration event. The superintendent was invited by the Washington National Cathedral and the MacArthur Foundation. Only 2 dispatchers were on duty when the July 4th flood hit last year. Kerrville 911 dispatchers experienced the unexpected – the cries, the pleas for help and rushing water through their headsets last July 4th. Burnet Co - solar project
Is a solar project coming to Burnet County? According to the Daily Tribune, a land survey has been filed with Burnet County Development Services for a large solar project right outside of Burnet. Local officials are assessing the current status of the development by Gransolar Twenty Two Solar LLC and Red Sun Solar. 376 acres have been leased by the solar companies and a local landowner. County officials were aware of the project but may not have any authority over the project
