Woman dies after being struck on Junction Highway
Kerrville PD responded to a fatal crash involving a pedestrian in the 1200 block of Junction Highway. The crash claimed the life of 46-year-old Jeanne Avalos. According to a co-worker who worked with her in Fredericksburg, she was also known as Michelle Avelos, a Kerr County resident. Avalos was crossing Junction Highway when she was struck by a vehicle traveling east.

Former Harper ISD employee sentenced
Former Harper ISD employee Pedro de Luna the third sentenced to 15 years in prison according to the hawkseyecn.net. De Luna who held various positions at Harper High School was arrested December 1st 2025 for invasive recording of a young female. After further investigation, Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office found a personal digital cloud storage, where De Luna had more recordings of young females in a theater changing area at Harper High School. Rwandan art at Bandera Museum
Rwandan artist who survived genocide has a piece of art displayed in Bandera. Rukundo Jean Baptiste, 36 escaped the Rwandan Genocide with his sister when he was four. Nearly a million people were killed over approximately 100 days. According to the Bandera Prophet, the new wing Sully Woodland Art Education Center at the Bandera Natural History and Art Museum has his piece “Women at Market” on display.

Unidentified threat to Bandera ISD's
Incident in Bandera County had staffs at Medina ISD and Bandera ISD on alert yesterday afternoon. A letter to the parents stated that the Bandera County Sheriff’s Office notified the schools of an apparent threat in the community which was not directed to the school. Frontier Times Director to retire
New Director of the Frontier Times Museum in Bandera is taking the reins effective Oct. 1. According to the Bandera Prophet, Kim Miles is stepping into the role as Rebecca Norton is retiring after 20 years. Miles has been with the museum for over a decade. She also serves as chairperson of the Bandera County Historical Commission. The Frontier Times Museum is on 13th Street in Bandera. A public retirement party for Norton is Thursday afternoon, September 24th from 4 to 7.

Ingram raises tax rate
Ingram raises tax rate by 40 percent. According to the West Kerr Current, the city council voted to raise the tax rate from 38 cents per 100 dollar valuation to 53 cents per 100 dollar valuation. The date for a special meeting to adopt the rate has yet to be determined. According to Councilman Rocky Hawkins, the increase was due to the county and the sewer system.

Counties released from New World Screwworm
Gillespie, Kerr, Kimble, La Salle, and Webb Counties are released from being a New World Screwworm Infested Zone. According to the Texas Animal Health Commission the above counties have been removed from movement restrictions. The eradication strategies have eliminated the wild NWS in these areas. The Commission though will continue to conduct regulatory activities in these counties such as sterile fly releases, fly surveillance trapping and animal surveillance.

FBG - woman dies at Enchanted Rock
Second visitor to Enchanted Rock in Fredericksburg dies on the trail this year. An East Texas woman, 59 years of age was reportedly found on the west side of the trail late Thursday afternoon. Law enforcement continue the investigation for cause of death. Her name has not been released.

Several local volunteer fire departments have been called out to help battle Texas wildfires for the past week. According to Ingram VFD, the McKee Draw Fire in Edwards and Sutton Counties remains active, currently reported at 65% contained. Over 34 hundred acres have burned. Boerne - Long sentenced to prison on sexual assault charges
Boerne Man Sentenced to 30 Years in Prison for Sexual Assault of a Child. Sean Patrick Long, 27 was found guilty of two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and two counts of Sexual Assault of a Child in July by a Kendall County jury.
