BCRAGD rules on Vanderpool well permits

Controversial Vanderpool well permits were up for review again yesterday at the Bandera County River Authority and Groundwater District or BCRAGD. Several residents and the attorneys for the applicant, Vanderpool Management, LP and the opposition Bandera Canyonlands Alliance were in attendance for public comment. The BCRAGD approved the 2 permits but only for 56 acre feet of water instead of the 200 acre feet the applicant requested which could have allowed pumping of more than 65-million gallons a year. The district also limited the permits to irrigation, domestic livestock and agricultural. Recreational use was not included.  The wells are located just south of Rural Road 337 near Vanderpool.
