Drowning in Boerne City Lake

A fisherman drowned Saturday evening in Boerne Lake. The Boerne Fire Department Water Rescue Team and Texas Game Gardens recovered the body of a man on Sunday. He is from Leon Springs. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin. Apparently, the man spent Saturday afternoon and evening fishing in the lake and complained of the heat. He jumped in to cool off and wandered into a deep water area. He went under as he yelled for help. Others at the lake couldn’t swim to help him and called 911. Alcohol was not a factor.
