EAA - delcares Stage 5 restrictions

The Edwards Aquifer Authority or EAA has declared Stage 5 restrictions. This is the first time since the inception of the EAA in 1993 that the authority has entered high level restrictions. The continuing drought has brought the aquifer to near-historic lows. Groundwater permit users will have their pumping limits restricted by 44%, up from the previous restriction of 40%. Several Hill Country counties are affected such as Medina, Guadalupe, Comal, and Hays.
