Housing development in Fredericksburg’s Extra-territorial Jurisdiction causes concern for local citizens according to the Standard Radio Post. 30 plus people attended City Council on Tuesday with many voicing concerns about water erosion, drainage and traffic from Sonoma Oaks. At the heart of the issue is a 39 acre tract where zoning could be changed from rural to low density to accommodate the new subdivision. Plus, longstanding families in the area say that the developer is impacting their property which they’ve owned for 100 years. Housing continues to be an issue in Fredericksburg. City Council was to vote on annexation of 3 tracts of land at Holmig Lane to accommodate the proposed housing. The vote was tabled for the October 21st meeting.
