Fredericksburg Mayor proclaims Saturday at Jacob Brodbeck Day according to the Standard Radio Post. Jacob Brodbeck is considered the inventor and builder of the first powered aircraft. Plus, designating Gillespie County as the Birthplace of Aviation. Mayor Jeryl Hoover presented the proclamation Tuesday to Gillespie County’s Crosswind Aviation owner Gwen Fullbrook and Brodbeck’s great great grandson Rick Brodbeck. Crosswind is having a commemorative flight and ceremony to honor Jacob Brodbeck at 1pm Saturday at the Gillespie County Airport.
