Gillespie Co - Jacob Brodbeck aviation pioneer - 9.20.24

Friday commemorates the flight of the first man to fly an aircraft, hill country resident Jacob Brodbeck on September 20, 1865. Gillespie County’s Crosswind Aviation will honor Brodbeck with a flight by his great great grandson Rick Brodbeck at 1pm on Saturday at Gillespie County Airport. Following the flight is a ceremony honoring Jacob Brodbeck as the inventor and builder of the first powered aircraft and Gillespie County as the Birthplace of Aviation.
