Fire in Gillespie County yesterday burned 75 Acres. Named the Reverse Fire, it is now 55 percent contained at 11pm Tuesday night. The fire started around 2:45 p.m. yesterday, near the 400 Block of East Grand Oaks Dr. It was located between U.S. Highway 290 and Reeh-Weinheimer Road. Dozers from the Texas A&M Forest Service worked to clear a containment line. A drone and helicopter were used to direct crews on the ground. Fredericksburg Fire Chief Lynn Bizzell said. “Cedar trees and numerous piles of dead vegetation throughout the area ignited and threw embers to start new spot fires. Fire crews worked throughout the night to make sure there were no flareups.” Currently, there are no known road closures. The cause of the fire is not yet determined.
