New found Texas Grasshoppers are named after Willie Nelson and Jerry Jeff Walker – A team from the En-tomo-logical Museum at Mississippi State University uncovered six flightless grasshopper species found native to the Edwards Plateau. Dr. JoVonn Hill, the museum director decided to name 2 of the species after the iconic musicians. One is named Melanoplus nelsoni and Melanoplus walker.
