Kerr County’s Sheriff Office received The International Association of Chiefs of Police /Booz Allen Hamilton Leadership in the Prevention of Terrorism Award. This award recognizes agencies that have demonstrated overall success in averting, stopping, or countering terrorist activity. The Kerr County Sheriff’s Office was selected from a field of eight domestic and two international nominees. Sheriff Larry Leitha accepted the award at the annual meeting of the IACP last week. He also was a panelist during the conference. The beginning of the award citation reads: “Kerr County Sheriff's Office and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) San Antonio Joint Terrorism Task Forces worked jointly to disrupt an attempted mass shooting at a local retail store.
