Kerr County - Austin murder suspect arrested

An abandoned vehicle in Kerr County leads to an arrest of a murder suspect. Early Monday morning, Kerr County Sheriff’s Office, Patrol Division were dispatched to the 100 Block of Sutherland Lane for a report of a vehicle blocking the road. Deputies found an abandoned Chevrolet Silverado pickup. They then were dispatched to the Mini-Mart at the 4400 Block of Highway 27 for people knocking on the windows. Deputies located 22-year-old Gonzalo Mendoza-Gonzalez and a female subject who denied being associated with the vehicle. After deputies gave a ride to the couple to a local hotel, the Sheriff’s Office was notified by Austin PD the abandoned truck had been used in a homicide on Sunday. Deputies returned to the hotel and detained Mendoza-Gonzalez and the female subject. The man was found in possession of a handgun. Austin Police Homicide Detectives took possession of the abandoned truck and with KCSO arrested Mendoza-Gonzalez for Murder. He is currently detained in the Kerr County Jail.
