Kerr County did not raise the tax rate for 2025-2026 but Kerrville did. After much discussion of the 8 percent hike for rebuilding after the flood, city council voted on a 7.98 property tax rate hike which now sets the property tax rate at 57 cents per 100 dollar valuation. This rate is over the ‘no new revenue tax rate’ which can be implemented without a vote during a disaster declaration. The residents that spoke at city council on Tuesday expressed their dissatisfaction. Some may experience relief if their property was damaged in the July floods. These landowners can file for a property tax exemption. The deadline is October 20th.
