The Texas Commission of Environmental Quality sent the City of Kerrville a TTHM violation notice. TTHM’s are Total Trihalomethanes. They occur when Chlorine is used to disinfect water, it then reacts with naturally occurring organic matter in the water. Water samples show the amount of TTHM’s has exceeded TCEQ’s maximum standards. Summer drought conditions, low river flow, high organic carbon content in Nimitz Lake and diminished aquifers are to blame. The violation was found in the far eastern portion of town. Find the explanation and sampling area map at kerrvilletx.gov.
