A recent surge in utility phone scams has KPUB, Kerrville’s utility company, reminding their customers, they do not ask for financial information over the phone. Scammers act as employees of the utility company. They then try to trick customers into providing personal and financial information in exchange for reduced utility bills. KPUB advises people to never give out the requested information, to hang up and then to report the call to them and law enforcement.
