More funding cuts possibly looming for the Meals on Wheels program, according to the Texas Tribune. The Older Americans Act has not kept pace with the rising senior population and food costs. Federal re-imbursement is just part of the money Meals on Wheels receives. Those dollars are taking longer to come in. Other funds come in from individual donations, major donors and city and county money. Recently, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. participated in a meal delivery to see firsthand visited how Meals on Wheels impacts seniors.
