New Braunfels property owners scam emails

Local property owners in New Braunfels are being targeted via an email fraud scheme. Various property owners have received emails claiming to be a formal notice about pending payments due for Planning & Development fees and includes an attachment with an official-looking invoice along with instructions to wire transfer the funds. THIS IS A SCAM and these are NOT legitimate emails from the City of New Braunfels. The City does not invoice property owners by email and will never require a wire transfer to pay for fees and other charges. Also, emails from the city will come from an address ending in @newbraunfels.gov.
