Origin of Jingle Bells

Popular Christmas carol Jingle Bells was originally a Thanksgiving song. In 1850, James Lord Pierpont in Massachusetts wrote it for his church’s Thanksgiving. In 1857, it was published as One Horse Open Sleigh. The song remains one of the most popular Christmas songs ever.
