Boerne Champion High School Ag Mechanic and Welding students surprise former Texas Governor Rick Perry with a new truck. A restored 1992 Chevrolet, that is. Governor Perry, a big supporter of Ag Mechanic and Welding left his dad’s 1992 truck with Dorman Vick, the Welding/Ag Mechanics Technology instructor for Champion for a few minor repairs. Instead, Vick’s students took it down to the frame. With the support of about 20 Boerne businesses, the truck was taken completely apart, the engine was re-done, the exterior repainted, and given new tires. And at a press conference yesterday at Champion High School, Governor Perry was presented with the keys to the completely restored 1992 Chevrolet.
