Schreiner Park may go back to the state
Will Schreiner Park become a state park again? The 517-acre park started as a city park in the 30’s then deeded to the state of Texas. In 2004, the park was transferred back to the City of Kerrville under the authority of Texas House Bill 2108. In a recent workshop, according to the Hill Country Community Journal, Kerrville Assistant City Manager Michael Hornes informed City Council that the city is in direct talks with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department about the future of Kerrville-Schreiner Park. Catastrophic damage from major floods in 2025 and 2026, heavily impacted the riverfront and dwellings. With a hundred million dollars in damage throughout the city, Kerrville has no money earmarked to help in restoring the park.
