Texas - laws affecting youth campgrounds

No cabins in floodplains at summer camp says the Texas government. New Texas laws require summer camps to remove existing cabins from floodplains by January 1st.

27 campers and two counselors died in the historic July 4 flooding at Camp Mystic. Gov. Greg Abbott signed three new laws that he said will “make youth camps safer” and ensure Texas communities are better prepared for future disasters. The flood victims' families attended the September 5th bill signing ceremony in Austin.  Details include: Camps must develop and update comprehensive emergency plans annually, set up warning systems to notify campers when something is wrong and install ladders with access to cabin roofs during floods.
