Texas - public schools declining enrollment

Public schools face declining enrollment have announced virtual or hybrid school options for the 2026–2027 school year. According to the Texan “In the 2025-26 school year, Texas had 76,000 fewer public school students than it did the school year before.”  “This is the first enrollment decline, outside of a global pandemic, in nearly 40 years.”  Elementary students account for 60 percent of the decline.
