Texas - state food truck permit

A new state law will allow a food truck to operate anywhere in the state.  As of now, food truck owners must have a permit from each city to operate and pay the fees. Some cities are opposed to a statewide license as they will lose permit and inspection fee revenue. That revenue will now shift to the state. The Department of State Health Services in creating the statewide permit could generate up to 17 million dollars annually for Texas. The trucks will still have to have local health inspections. The new statewide food truck license takes effect July 1st.
