Texas woman receives a 15 year sentence for committing fraud against the US Army. Janet Yamanaka Mello, a civilian worker, 57 of San Antonio siphoned over 100 million dollars during a 7 year period from a military program for 4-H students. Mello created a shell company applying for the federal funds that she used to live a lavish lifestyle. The investigation into the fraud started after her tax return was flagged by the IRS. She is currently in jail awaiting transfer to a yet unknown Federal prison.
