Today is Valentine’s Day – according to various sources - Valentine's Day has origins in the Roman festival of Lupercalia celebrating fertility and prosperity, and the celebration of Saint Valentine, a martyred clergyman. The day was proclaimed a holiday in the 1300’s. In the Middle Ages 1400 to 1500, the day became associated with love and romance. John Cadbury of England introduced the heart-shaped candy box. Also in 2003, it became Quirklyalone Day to celebrate all the single people.
