Burnet Co - TCEQ approves quarry permit

One permit approved another one to go. According to KXAN-TV, TCEQ has approved an air quality permit for a rock crusher in Burnet County. Asphalt Inc. LLC, an Austin based company filed for an Air Quality Standard Permit in July of last year for a proposed quarry. Despite opposition from opponents at a public hearing in December, the TCEQ granted the permit last Friday. A motion to overturn the decision is due on March 10. Now, the company is waiting on approval from the Lower Colorado River Authority for a permit filed there. A public hearing is expected as the opposition continues. Opponents say that the quarry could affect lakes, caves and children’s camps in the area.
