Burnet - officials considering buyout of flood damaged properties

Burnet officials explore purchasing flood damaged properties according to the dailtytrib.com. 13 properties have been severely damaged and would cost too much to repair. A federal program from the USDA’s Emergency Watershed Protection Program would provide 75 percent of the cost to purchase the properties at fair market value. 10 homeowners have expressed interest. After purchase, the land would return to natural space. The city may not be able to purchase every property.
