Several counties make disaster declarations ahead of April 8th eclipse. Last week, Kerr County issued a declaration of disaster for the impending April 8th eclipse. Dub Thomas, Kerr County’s Director of Emergency Management says, “The declaration is a necessary step required by the Texas Department of Emergency Management so that we can make requests for state assistance and state resources, and have those in place, if approved, in advance of the eclipse,” Today, Kerr County Commissioners Court are to vote for an extension through the eclipse. Travis County and Bell County have each made a declaration. Kendall County Commissioners today will vote on a disaster declaration. Their Office of Emergency Management have already asked the FBI for assistance.
