Gillespie County Treasurer resigns

Gillespie County Treasurer has resigned after lawsuit to have her removed from office. County Commissioners accepted Vicki Schmidt’s resignation yesterday at commissioners’ court. The lawsuit, filed by Gillespie County residents Esther Schneider and Bruce Neitzke, on August 30^th accused Schmidt of official misconduct and incompetence.  The suit also stated she neglected her duties and violated Texas laws for years. The county is behind several years in required financial reporting. In executive session, the agenda stated the commissioners were going to discuss an appointment to replace Schmidt.
