2 Hill Country counties impose burn bans. Dry conditions and a continued lack of measurable rainfall have Kendall County’s fire index numbers rapidly rising. According to the Boerne Star, Fire Marshal Brady Constantine declared a countywide burn ban for 7 days ending Tuesday, October 14th. It may be extended then. In Bandera County, Fire Marshal Jason Rutherford said that they have hit numbers close to the Drought Index of 500 to 600. 700 to 800 is the driest. According to the Bandera Prophet, Rutherford said he has spoken with the Texas Forest Service, and a plan is in place in case of emergency. The ban will be in effect for 90 days, unless lifted by County Judge Richard Evans.
