Kerrville - 2 dispatchers on duty for July 4, 2025

Only 2 dispatchers were on duty when the July 4^th flood hit last year.  Kerrville 911 dispatchers experienced the unexpected – the cries, the pleas for help and rushing water through their headsets last July 4^th.   Riley Gordon and Samantha Dixon-McCurry were working the overnight shift on July 4 when the calls started coming in.  Dixon-McCurry had only been on the job for a few weeks. She and Gordon were alone during the first hours of the frantic calls. Over 500 incoming calls were logged from residents trapped by rising waters of the Guadalupe River that fateful day.
