Kerrville resident is the USO Marine of the Year 2024. Tivy High School Grad 2016, Sergeant Brett D. Meil demonstrated extraordinary bravery while serving as a safety officer during a grenade live-fire range. Meil saved a trainee from being injured from a detonated grenade by covering the trainee’s body with his. After suffering shrapnel to his body and recovering, he is back as an instructor. Meil is currently stationed at Camp Pendleton.
