Pipe Creek VFD - battle hillside fire

Pipe Creek VFD battling a fire ignited by lightning during Saturday’s storm for the past 2 evenings. The fire was on a large ranch on a steep hillside, off Bear Springs Road. The VFD had Personnel and equipment on scene of the fire all Saturday night and Sunday. They reported that there was no danger to people or property, but the 100 degree temperatures on Sunday afternoon didn’t help. Crews from across the region were on hand to assist Pipe Creek - Bergheim, Sisterdale, Boerne, Waring, Castle Lake, and Bexar County Districts 7 & 8. At 6pm last night the fire was contained at 70 percent. Crews monitored the fire all last night and teams have reorganized and resumed operations this morning.
