Families of incarcerated family members rallied at the state capitol for air conditioning in the prisons reports the Texas Tribune. Prison rights advocates and several lawmakers are asking for a special legislative session to cool the prisons. Measures have recently failed in the past sessions. The Senate killed a House bill seeking half a billion dollars for air conditioning. The heat crisis and welfare of the prisoners have spurred the effort again. Governor Greg Abbot hasn’t responded to the request for another session.
