TX Comptroller's Office scam

Texas residents receiving fraudulent letters claiming to be from Texas Comptroller’s Office. The letters claim that taxes are owed and that residents are being threatened with property seizure if payment is not made within 7 days. Don’t send any payment, don’t call the number in the letter and do not go to any link mentioned in the letter. Not only can you be scammed for money, your identity could also be stolen. If you receive a suspicious letter from the Comptroller’s Office contact the Comptroller’s Collection team
