TX - Governor directs TXDot to not issue LPR permits

After public outcry about privacy concerns with Flock cameras, no new LPR’s to be installed on state roads. According to the Texas Tribune Governor Greg Abbott has directed TXDot to stop issuing permits for Flock cameras and other automated license plate readers. Cameras already installed along state roadways are not affected.  TXDot operates more than 900 cameras. Agreements that are approved but not yet installed are also suspended. TxDOT approves permits for the cameras but does not install them. The agency states they do not have access to data from those cameras.
