Texas is number 6 in a list of 11 states with the most unprovoked shark attacks in the US according to the Southwest Journal. 40 shark attacks were recorded throughout the decades though deadly encounters were uncommon. The data came from the International Shark Attack File housed at the Florida Museum of Natural History.
