Juneteenth will be celebrated Monday at 11am, at the Bertha Tryon/ Hendrick Arnold Black Cemetery. In 1993, the cemetery’s name was changed from the Bandera County Colored Cemetery to the current one. Currently, the only grave marker belongs to Bandera resident Bertha Tryon, the last person buried there. Now, Hendrick Arnold didn’t live in Bandera. He settled in San Antonio. His name was added for his service to the state of Texas as a scout for the Texian Army during the Texas Revolution. As reported in the Bandera Bulletin.
