The Hill Country over the week-end experienced the aurora borealis due to the geo-magnetic storm. Residents in Boerne, Medina, Pipe Creek shared photos of the northern lights. The Space Weather Prediction Center issued a G4 geomagnetic storm watch on Thursday. The alert had not been issued in 19 years. Scientists with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) monitored the solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs). The CME’s are "large expulsions of plasma and magnetic field from the Sun's corona," said the Space Weather Prediction Center.
