After a month of public comment on proposed mountain lion regulations, The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department sets new regulations - reports expressnews.com. Canned hunts are now illegal. Also, traps are to be checked every 36 hours. Mountain lions also known as pumas and cougars are considered non-game animals. Regulation violations can bring a 500 dollar fine. Since last summer there have been 58 mountain lion sightings. Mostly in West Texas.
