Kerr Co says no to hand counting ballots

Despite ongoing efforts by Commissioner Rich Paces. Kerr County Commissioners voted against hand counting ballots in the upcoming elections. The vote was 4 to 1. A few reasons cited were time constraints and newly appointed elections administrator Jackie Dowdy said she’d need 4 full time employees, computers and office space. A 250 thousand Budget was also requested.
