Converse man threatens TX capitol

Converse man arrested by Texas DPS Wednesday, 09.30.26 for allegedly planning an attack at the Texas Capitol. DPS obtained information about the credible threat and thwarted it before it could take place. Benny Caldera 40, was arrested in the early morning hours yesterday by DPS and booked into Bexar County Jail. Caldera is charged with a felony for a terroristic threat against a public agent.  An email from Secretary of the Senate Patsy Spaw sent to Capitol staff obtained by The Texas Tribune said the individual arrested was the “main suspect” in a planned attack with suspected co-conspirators. No other suspects have been mentioned nor was anyone else arrested. The investigation continues. The FBI has been called in and the state capitol is under tighter security.
