FBG - Director of Pioneer Memorial Library
The director of the Pioneer Memorial Library in Fredericksburg was fired Tuesday afternoon. Gillespie County Commissioners, who met in executive session after their regular meeting fired Erika Caputo. Several library programs are on pause according to the library’s Facebook page. Pioneer Memorial Library has been having other difficulties as their primary book vendor closed operations. The closure affects purchases of new materials.

Kendall Co - accident ends in death on IH-10
Kendall County man dies in crash on IH-10 near Texas 46 Wednesday night according to the Boerne Police Department. An 18 wheeler stalled on the westbound lane at Mile Marker 540. A Toyota Tundra crashed into the tanker truck. Police report the 18 wheeler didn’t have hazard lights on until seconds before the crash. The driver of the Tundra was identified as Bradly Dietert, 40, who died at the scene. A portion of the interstate was closed for several hours as investigators work

Medina Lake levels down again.
The water level in Medina Lake has begun falling again . After a brief respite from drought conditions from summer rains, the lake exceeded 6% of its capacity in August after dropping below 2% in May. Medina Lake is currently down to 5.6% —more than 80 feet below its conservation pool—according to the Texas Water Development Board.

Kerrville - lost college ring found after 30 years
College ring found near Kerrville’s wastewater system returned after 30 years to rightful owner. City of Kerrville Public Works employees Morgan Valmar and Marcus Mader discovered a 1990 Kansas State University ring during a wastewater collection system inspection. After researching the origins of the ring it was returned to the owner, Randy Fox who lived in Kerrville in the 90’s and lost it in 1996. Fox now lives in Washington State.

Texas Wine Trail - Puerta de Lobo breaks ground
A $30 million dollar development in the Texas Wine Trail breaks ground. According to the San Antonio Business Journal, Puerta De Lobo is under construction on Highway 290 between Fredericksburg and Johnson City marking its first U.S. venture. The 220-acre project, aims to blend luxury living with winemaking through a unique grower community model which includes 90 luxury homes on 1.5-acre lots, each complete with its own vineyard.
